For a breathtaking view of Gijon go to Santa Catalina Highlands, it is an old military area where you will find an auditorium, a cafe and lots of playground equipment for the children, or the energetic adults! At the top you are rewarded with a fabulous view of the seaside, with San Lorenzo beach to the east and the harbour to the west. Eduardo Chillida’s sculpture is at the top of the highlands; it is called ‘Elogio del Horizonte’ and is one of the city’s most important monuments.
