Valencia is Spain’s third city when it comes to the population and to importance, it sits on the Mediterranean Sea and is located south of Barcelona and to the east of Madrid.

Spain’s first botanical garden is located in Valencia, the Jardin Botánico. The garden was created in 1802 and has a fascinating cactus garden and beautiful trees and plants. Offering a 360° view of the city is the Miguelete Bell Tower, visitors must climb the 207 steps before being rewarded with a breathtaking view.
Observe the watery world of the Oceanogràfic, this impressive aquarium houses some fascinating displays with the top attraction being the 70m underwater tunnel which is home to giant eels, rays and even sharks.
In March Valencia plays host to the festival of Fallas, the locals build huge papier mache models and burn them on the last night. Firework displays occur during the days and nights and the most impressive one is held on the final night and is called ‘the night of fire’.
Try an authentic Paella dish whilst you are in the city, the best place for this is in the Malvarosa beach area.
