Vigo Hotel Guide
Vigo is located in the west region of Spain and is a commercial port town with the one of the biggest centres throughout Europe of sardine fishing. Vigo is a modern town and sits to the south of the Ria de Vigo which is an inlet of water.
There are several beaches within easy reach of Vigo including Samil and Canido beach. The town is actually positioned on the slopes of a hill which has 2 old forts atop it; if you take a hike to the forts you will see the wonderfully picturesque view of the town. There is an old part of the town where you will find narrow and winding streets and the newer part where there are tower blocks, beautiful parks and wide avenues.
If you are searching for a tranquil retreat then look no further than Pazo de Castrelos, this is a big wooden park with a museum. Sitting behind the museum is a delightful box garden which has a gorgeous terrace wall and pretty rose walk, there are attractive magnolia avenues and a lovely tulip tree. This is the perfect place to sit and reflect upon your visit to Vigo.
Positioned on the edge of the old town region is Picadillo this restaurant offers tapas along with classically tasty meals. If you take a stroll along the port you will see the variety of all the local seafood on offer.
The nightlife varies in Vigo from the more sedate bars to the lively clubs with many discos not starting until the small hours of the morning.
