Zamora Hotel Guide

The city of Zamora lies on a rocky hill in the northwest of Spain; it sits on the banks of the Duero River and is close to the frontier of Portugal.
In total the city boasts 24 Romanesque churches from the 12th and 13th centuries, the city’s nickname reflects this by being called the ‘museum of Romanesque art’. Zamora has the highest content of Romanesque churches of any other city within Europe.
The castle of Zamora is a fortress which was constructed during the Middle Ages; there are some spectacular views of the city to be observed from the castle.
The cuisine in Zamora is slightly more varied than a lot of other Spanish towns and cities; they use a lot of ‘raw ingredients’ in their cooking such as chick peas and pulses. They also produce cheese created from sheep’s milk. A delicious traditional dish of Zamora is Bacalao a la Tranca, a beautifully sweet cod meal or if you are brave enough there is even an octopus dish.
There are a couple of shopping malls in the city with Centro Comercial Valderaduey being the largest one; visitors will discover that the mall’s shops consist of a wide array of different tastes. You will mainly find fancy boutiques and pottery shops along with many souvenir shops.
The city does not offer a vast choice of nightlife but what there is will satisfy most tastes, the Ocellum Club is a cafe/bar throughout the daytime and turns into a disco at night with a downstairs dance area. The Bodega Quinti is an underground bar with an electric atmosphere and a good choice of music.
